Crafting for Wellbeing | Summer Mosaics
Crafting for Wellbeing at Safe Haven Wellbeing Fridays
A bee bath is a small, shallow water source created specifically to help bees and other pollinators stay hydrated. Bees need water not just to drink, but also to regulate temperature in their hives and dilute honey for feeding larvae. The mosaics allow bees to have landing spots so that they don’t drown.
How to Make a Bee Bath:
-
Use a shallow dish or bowl – something like a plant saucer works well.
-
Add clean water – fill it with just enough water to cover the bottom.
-
Add landing spots – place small stones, pebbles, marbles, or bits of cork in the water. These give bees a place to land without risking drowning.
-
Place it in your garden – ideally near flowering plants and in a shady, quiet spot.
Tips:
-
Change the water daily to keep it clean and prevent mosquitoes.
-
Avoid adding sugar or chemicals—just plain water is best.
