International Women’s Day: Not all heroes wear capes
Over the past week, we have been sharing the stories of six remarkable women from our Waythrough volunteer community.
Each of them represents something powerful: courage, kindness, respect, resilience, sunshine and growth.
Their stories are different, but together they tell a much bigger one.
They show us that change doesn’t always come from grand gestures or public recognition. Often, it happens in quiet moments — a conversation that helps someone feel heard, a group session that builds confidence, a small act of kindness that reminds someone they are not alone.
Change often begins with ordinary people choosing to care about others.
These women help create the safe, supportive spaces that sit at the heart of Waythrough. Through their compassion, dedication and willingness to give their time to others, they make a lasting difference to the people who walk through our doors.
International Women’s Day is a moment to recognise women’s achievements around the world. But it is also a moment to celebrate the everyday actions that build stronger communities.
We are incredibly grateful to the women who volunteer their time, share their wisdom and bring their warmth to Waythrough.
Their impact may be quiet, but it is deeply felt.
And it reminds us of something important:
Not all heroes wear capes.
Some change lives every day.
Real women. Real impact. Quiet change.
