International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day:
Real Women. Real Impact. Quiet Change.
Not all heroes wear capes. Some bring kindness, courage and a listening ear.
International Women’s Day is often marked with powerful stories of famous women, global movements and historic achievements. Those stories matter. But change also happens much closer to home — in quieter, everyday ways.
At Waythrough East Surrey Community Connections, we are fortunate to work alongside women who make an extraordinary difference in the lives of others. They may not seek recognition or headlines, but their impact is deeply felt by the people they support.
Through kindness, courage, resilience and compassion, our volunteers help create safe spaces where people feel heard, supported and valued. They listen when someone needs to talk. They offer practical help when life feels overwhelming. They bring warmth, humour and encouragement to the groups and individuals they work with every day.
This year, to mark International Women’s Day, we are celebrating six incredible women from our volunteer community whose contributions embody the values that sit at the heart of Waythrough.
Over the next few days, we will be sharing their stories — highlighting the courage, kindness, respect, resilience, sunshine and growth they bring to our service.
These women remind us that meaningful change does not always come from grand gestures. Often, it comes from showing up, offering support, and believing in others when they need it most.
Look out for the stories to follow about our six volunteers.
Real women. Real impact. Quiet change.
