Random Acts of Kindness: Small Things That Can Make a Big Difference
Kindness does not have to be grand or expensive.
Often, the smallest gestures are the ones people remember most.
To mark Random Acts of Kindness Day 2025, Angie, one of our super facilitators, shared a lovely collection of simple ways people can show care, thoughtfulness and community spirit in everyday life.
Kindness is not about doing something huge.
It is about noticing people, taking a moment, and choosing care where we can.
Some take just a few seconds, while others can mean the world to someone having a hard day.

1: Kindness through everyday gestures
- Let someone pull out at a junction
- Offer a lift when it is pouring with rain
- Stop and speak to a neighbour
- Be kind to delivery drivers
- Let someone cross safely in front of you

2: Kindness through support
- Send regular messages to a friend going through a difficult time
- Speak up for someone if they are struggling
- Support a neighbour who is moving house
- Share useful information that might help someone
- Offer advice when someone needs guidance

3: Kindness through giving
- Draw or paint a picture for someone
- Bake a cake for someone else
- Give flowers to a friend
- Share surplus fruit and vegetables
- Pass on seeds, useful items or small gifts

4: Kindness towards community
- Feed the birds
- Speak to older neighbours
- Help someone with practical errands
- Share local knowledge or support
- Look for simple ways to make someone’s day easier
